~ EXCERPT ~

I want him. I want to fill my senses with that psychic essence of him again, to draw his light into me. The pull of his energy, combined with the raw physical need that hammers away in my gut drives me half out of my head with desire.
Unable to say anything, not sure how to even put what I am feeling into words, I reach up and touch his mouth.
His lips close around my finger tip, and when he sucks on it, the sensations zoom straight to my core, tugging on the raw hunger that lurks there. And it's as if he feels it too, for the sparks in those blue eyes ignite.
Mad with wanting, I stand up on tiptoe and slurp at his lips.
A shudder runs down his spine. Hands gripping my hips, pulling me close enough so I can feel his arousal; then his mouth is on mine, his tongue thrusting inside. With one hand squeezing my hip, he pulls my legs apart with the other.
Then he slides his fingers under my shorts, thrusting his finger inside me; so sudden and yet so intimate that white-hot pleasure pours down my spine. I'm sure I scream. I can't hear myself, though, for the blood is pumping in my ears, my heart racing as his mouth devours mine.
I am dimly aware of a crack of thunder, or perhaps it's my pulse beating in my ears, I can't be sure. For just then, a second finger joins the first, filling me up even more. Then he's moving his fingers in and out, and again. The friction of his skin sliding against the most intimate part of me sends a jolt of molten desire throbbing through me.
When he slides his fingers out, I protest, the sound coming out a breathy thread of noise I can't recognize as my own. My eyes flutter open in time to see him lick his fingers. And that sends another pulse of longing through me.
""How do I taste?"" I can't stop myself from asking
""Like cinnamon and salt, and wild fire. You taste...like you"" he says.

Eve is sure that she'll never meet a man as dominant as herself… Until a sexy lion shifter turns her world upside down…

~ EXCERPT ~

A growl of frustration rumbled up his chest. It echoed the heat that was tearing her insides. Driving her to plaster her breasts to his chest.
She plunged her fingers into that thick hair she’d been wanting to pet for so long. Meeting him thrust for thrust, she danced her tongue over his. It wasn’t half enough.
A snarl bubbled up. She bit down on his lower lip.
“Putain.” He tore his mouth from her.
His chest rose and fell, his lips swollen and clearly throbbing. He looked like how she felt.
Aroused—and wanting and frustrated.
Those amber eyes were dilated to sheets of gold. She saw herself reflected in them.
She licked her lips. “Consider that a thank you for services rendered.” She was a tough alpha woman. She hated what she was going to do to him, to her, to what they could be.
This crazy attraction between them could only end in one thing. Their mating. His death.
She dropped her hands to her sides.
His jaw hardened.
She had to do this before she lost courage. Had to show him that she didn’t care for him. That he was just someone who’d happened to be there at the right time to help her out.
“When I’m back in Mauritania, I’ll make sure to reward you properly.” There. She’d snubbed him.
If she thought she’d seen him angry, that was nothing.
His shoulders heaved, and his hands balled into fists at his sides. Nostrils flaring, he peeled his lips back to show his teeth.
There it was...his beast. She’d stripped him of the mask he’d worn so far.
He’d fought for her.
How would it be to fight with him?
A shudder of sexual awareness skittered over her skin.
She was shocked to find herself go wet. She had to get away from him before her body gave itself away, before he sensed how turned on she was, not just by his desire but also by his fury.
She unwrapped her legs from around him. He slid to his feet. The lack of contact instantly made her shiver. Like she’d lost a part of her. It convinced her she was doing the right thing.
“You should leave.” Rising, she sauntered to the shower on unsteady legs.
“You should...realize something.” His tone was polite.
The hackles on her neck rose. She’d turned her back on a dangerous predator. Apprehension jolted her spine. She spun around. Her heart hammered against her ribcage.
His biceps rippled. He placed his hands on his hips.
Her pulse raced. The chemistry between them turned up another notch.
He looked big and strong and so fucking sexy. He looked...delicious.
A bead of sweat rolled down between her breasts. She wanted to fling herself back at him and beg him to take her, to finish what they’d started, what she’d just tasted. Her breath hitched.
Cain tossed his head, every inch an alpha dominant male. “You’re not leaving this city without making love with me.”

*EXCERPT* Rebel Bear by Anna Lowe

99¢ SALE ~ FR*EE in KU

Supermodel Hailey Crewe dreams about escaping the limelight and returning to a carefree, anonymous lifestyle. Escaping literally was never part of her plan. A good thing she bumps into her very own Lancelot at exactly the right time...

~ EXCERPT ~

In this excerpt from Rebel Bear (Book 2), bear shifters Tim Hoving is in a mall, where he has just noticed a woman evading a group of men who are chasing her. He follows her into the sports store changing room she has hidden in and...
Tim stepped in front of the last stall and stopped, scratching his brow. He'd stormed plenty of buildings with his Special Forces unit, not to mention bunkers, military installations, and tunnels. But how exactly did one extract a single woman from a changing booth?
“So,” he said, trying to keep his voice light. Failing miserably, because the deep rumble thundered through the silence of the changing area. "You can stay in there all you want. None of my business.”
Except she felt like his business, damn it, although he had no idea why.
“But there are at least four guys after you,” he went on. “And I reckon you've got five minutes, tops, before they figure out which way you went.”
Something moved behind the curtain, and a second later, she spoke. “Only four guys?”
Tim grinned. Spunky little thing, wasn't she? Behind the snark in her voice, though, came the uneven scratch of fear.
“Call it approximate.” He squinted at the curtain, wishing he could see through it because he'd forgotten what she looked like. Her eyes were the only part that had stuck in his mind -- a pure, rich blue, like the spring sky over the Rockies. “Four guys, at least, on this level of the mall. And yeah, I'd say you have about five minutes, give or take.”
“And you are...?”
He tilted his head. Even backed into a corner, she managed to keep her shit together. “Timber Hoving,” he said. “You're Hailey, right?”
The air went very still. “How do you know that?”
He rolled his eyes. If she knew how much he could find out if he ever decided to really investigate, she'd freak out.
“I heard one of them say as much. The guy in a gray suit who's in love with himself - and his phone.”
The woman huffed. “Jonathan. Of course.”
Of course? She sounded pretty fed up with the guy. Was he her boss?
He looked at the curtain then at his watch. “Listen, are you coming or not?”
A pensive silence ensued. “Coming...where? With whom?”
“Coming with me. Getting the hell out of here.”
“You know a way out?” Her voice rose in hope. Hope he was already terrified of dashing if he somehow messed up.
He scrubbed his chin. Yeah, he did know a way out, but he doubted she'd like what he had in mind.
A hand appeared at the edge of the curtain, and she peeked then hid again, leaving him grasping at the details that had just flashed before his eyes. Blue eyes. Blond hair. Strong, sharp cheekbones covered with freckles he wished he had time to count.
“Why should I trust you?”
She was trying to sound tough, but her voice wobbled a little, and his heart ached at the loneliness in it.
He ran a hand through his hair. Why should she trust him?
He shrugged. “You just can. I promise.”
And, he supposed, because she had no choice.
The thing was, it felt like he didn't have a choice either. He simply had to help her because...because...
*Destiny*, his bear whispered.

*EXCERPT* Song of the Soul by Lisa Kessler

NEW

Mikolas has been working behind enemy lines to protect the Muses, but Trinity, the Muse of Music, awakens something inside of him, a primal need to protect her. Trinity has already lost two of her Muse sisters to the Order of the Titans. Just because the sexy Greek billionaire claims to be her Guardian doesn’t mean she can trust him.

~ EXCERPT ~

The new sound system for the theater was installed, tested, and tweaked, and now Trinity treated herself to a little escape from reality. The tech left, and she put on her headphones, gripping the earpieces on either side of her head. With her eyes closed, the symphony of sound embraced her, swamping her senses in the glorious melody of Mozart’s “Queen of the Night” aria. The high notes pinged with perfect clarity, dancing across her soul, alert and awake.

Suddenly she sensed she was no longer alone. She spun around in the sound booth chair to find Mikolas leaning on the doorframe, his forearm up by his head and a hint of a smile on his lips.

She’d been thinking about him earlier in the day while Clio had been peppering her with questions. Being the Muse of History, after Clio discovered the prophecy of the Guardians, she’d switched focus to researching each of the muses and their original partners in mythology. She had thought it might help them find their Guardians. It had worked for a few of them, but Trinity was another story. Euterpe’s mate was Strymon, a mighty river god and king. Mikolas was from Greece, but he didn’t have anything to do with a river and he was far from a king.

She crooked her finger, beckoning him over, and took off the headphones so she could turn one and press it to her ear, and put the other one to his ear. They hadn’t known each other long enough for her to know what type of music he enjoyed, but he didn’t seem to have an aversion to Mozart. The shared headphones kept him close enough that she could feel the heat coming off his skin.

He turned a little toward her. “Didn’t take you for an opera fan.”

She chuckled. “Muse of Music here. It’s tough for me to find a genre I don’t like. Do you like opera?”

“Yes.” He closed his eyes, listening. “My nona raised me on classical music.”

The aria ended, and Trinity lowered the headphones slowly, her gaze wandering over his face. He had a strong chiseled jaw, a gentle mouth, and dark eyes she could lose herself in. She swallowed the lump in her throat. “I was going to finish putting on outlet covers backstage.”

“Can I help you?”

She nodded without putting any distance between them. “That’d be great.” Gods, he smelled good. “But before we go get to work, can I ask you something?”

“Yes.” His voice had dropped to a throaty whisper that had heat coiling low in her belly.
For a second, she couldn’t remember what she was going to ask, then blurted out. “Halloween.”

He chuckled. “Not what I was expecting.”

She grinned and straightened up, regretting the space between them instantly. “Sorry. In all the Titan craziness, I forgot all about it, but Maggie, Mel and Nate’s daughter, is ten, and this is a major holiday in her world. In spite of Kronos breaking free, they don’t want to cancel the party, and Erica said I should invite you since everyone else will be there.”

He stared at her for a moment, and then stood up. “I wouldn’t want to intrude.”

She frowned and followed him to the door to the sound booth. “Wait, what?” She caught his arm.

He turned around, his eyes locked on hers. “Tell Erica I said thanks for the invite.”

Trinity raised a brow. “I’m the one who asked you.” Her hand found a place on her hip. “Aren’t you the one who has been pushing me to trust you?”

“Yeah.” He broke eye contact, examining the new ceiling. “Obviously I’ve been pushing too hard.”

Trinity frowned. “What am I missing here?”

He ran his hand back through his hair, the wavy curls refusing to be tamed. “Is it that hard to understand? If you’re asking me to go because you’d like me there, you might get a better response, but if you’re only doing this because your friend pressured you, then…I’ve got plenty of other things I can do instead.”

Trinity sighed and pulled him back into the booth. She sat down and pointed to the other chair. “Can we talk?”

He took the seat, but apparently, he was going to let her do the talking.

All right.

Trinity cleared her throat. “It was kind of shitty that I made it sound like I was only inviting you because Erica wanted me to.”

He nodded slowly, but the corner of his mouth twitched—a crack in his butt-hurt armor.

Trinity shrugged. “I don’t mean to constantly push you away, but in my defense, until very recently, I thought you gave the order to try to kill me.”

He uncrossed his arms, resting his forearms on his thighs as he leaned forward. “And part of me, the part that still mourns Nia, feels like I deserve it.” He shook his head, his gaze falling to the floor. “Can I be honest with you?”

“I’m a fan of honesty.” She gripped the sides of the chair.

He lifted his head, his brown eyes melting her where she sat. “My grandmother called me this morning and something she said has been bothering me.” He focused on his hands. “She told me that love is the only thing worth fighting for.” A sad chuckle escaped him as he met her gaze again. “But I’ve spent my whole life devoted to a sense of duty my grandfather planted in me when he explained I’d been marked by the gods.”

He focused on his shoes. “I’m trying to tell you that I’ve never been in love. I don’t know a damn thing about it. But when I think about Ted being the lucky son of a bitch who earned yours, I want to beat the living shit out of him for hurting you. The entitled prick had no idea what a gift he’d been given.”

Tears stung Trinity’s eyes as she reached out to cup his face in her hands. She waited for him to look at her, and she searched his eyes—for what she wasn’t sure. Slowly, she leaned in closer and closer until her mouth was on his.

His lips were tender but strong, and they tasted sweet with a hint of salt—delicious.

Every caress made her ache for more. His hands slid up her legs and around her back, rolling her and her chair closer to him. She tilted her head as his tongue parted her lips, exploring her mouth. Her fingers tangled in the back of his hair as their kiss grew more urgent. He held her tighter until she abandoned her chair for his lap, straddling him. His hands slid farther up her back, his fingers wide and possessive, singeing her skin with a desire she’d never known before. She ground her hips against him, enjoying the growl in his throat as his erection pulsed in his jeans.

“Oh!”

Trinity was off his lap and a couple of steps away in a heartbeat as she spun around to find Clio in the doorway. “Hey, Clio. Um. What’s up?”

Other than Mikolas. Thank the gods she’d managed to keep that in her inside voice.

Clio wasn’t a virginal saint, but she was still the youngest of their muse sisters and the flush of color in her cheeks made it clear she hadn’t meant to interrupt them.

“I…uh…” She glanced at Mikolas. “Hi.” Her gaze snapped back to Trinity. “Mason left one of the drills on the stage with the rest of the electrical socket covers. He just wanted to be sure you knew it was there.” She shifted her weight with a sheepish grin. “I better go see if he needs any help with the outside lights. Sorry about my timing.” She cringed. “I should’ve knocked.”

And then she was gone.

Trinity slowly turned toward Mikolas. He smiled up at her from under his thick black lashes. “How about I buy a lock for that door?”

She laughed. “Good plan.” She released a pent-up breath, rubbing her hands down her pants. “For a guy who claims to have never been in love…that kiss was… Yeah.”

“I was inspired.” He chuckled, his smile taking on a sexy tilt that had her pulse racing.
“And I said I’ve never been in love before.” He stood up and took her hand. “Never claimed to be virginal.”

“Point taken.” Trinity pulled him out of the sound booth and headed down toward the main theater. She looked back at him. “Thanks for what you said back there. Maybe I really don’t know much about love, either.”

He lifted her hand to his lips and brushed a kiss to her knuckles. “Is that invitation to the Halloween party still open?”

“Yes.” She jogged up the steps to the stage and picked up the drill. “I hope you’ll come. And it has nothing to do with Erica.”

He climbed the stairs and took her free hand. “I’ll be there.”

And something about the way he said it implied so much more than the party.

It was him. Looking amazing in a black leather jacket.
Holy shit. He was here. My gym crush. All that adrenaline that had pumped through me moments before while dealing with the pushy jerks vanished.
In all the times I’d come here, dressed in miniscule outfits, never had I felt so exposed. I wished I wasn’t wearing such a tight laced-up black leather dress that exposed a lot of cleavage.
He was sitting on one of the dark-red leather stools, facing the crowd. I caught his eye and turned away. Those ice-blue eyes were so penetrating. Each time I’d met his gaze at the rock climbing gym, I’d have the same reaction, averted his gaze.
Why didn’t I have the guts to converse beyond simple hellos? He was just another guy, so why did he have that effect upon me? There were tons of hot guys with jacked bodies at the gym. This one—only this one—made me react this way, like a turntable that had gotten stuck. Something about him was different, putting him far out of my league.
My palms heated and I grew aware of the sound of my heartbeat despite the reverberation of the pounding bass around us.
“I know you from the gym, don’t I?”
Oh God. Whenever I heard that sultry voice and the accent, I trembled slightly inside. Was there anything sexier than a French accent? During my brief semester in the south of France my junior year of college, I was in a constant state of sexual arousal with sounds of the language all around me. Especially when purred by hot men.
I opened my mouth to answer, but nothing came out. Maya elbowed me.
“Ye-yes,” I stammered, trying to sound nonchalant. “I go to Rock Hard Climbing. I’ve, uh, seen you there. You belayed me once.”
His eyes gleamed. “I remember.”
“I’ll catch up with you later.” Maya scooted to an empty spot at the other end of the red-and-black-marbled bar.
Damn it. How could she leave me alone with him? She must have figured out he was the guy I drooled about when I clammed up like an idiot.
I stared at Maya as she scanned the crowd on the dance floor, shooting invisible daggers at her back. I’m going to kill her later.
In all those months fantasizing about this guy, never did I think it would start as awkward as this.
